Ofsted
Following the Academy’s Ofsted Inspection on the 17th and 18th September 2019, we are delighted to be able to share with you the outcomes of this visit. Our three Ofsted Inspectors spent time at both of our school sites over the two days, on the tenth and eleventh day of the new Ofsted Inspection Framework which contained brand new judgement areas and higher expectations than ever before.
The inspection identified our school as a place in which:
- “Pupils love being part of Cranfield Church of England Academy.”
- “Governors, leaders and teachers have high ambitions for pupils.”
- “Pupils express the school’s deeply rooted values in the way they behave.”
- “Teachers know their pupils well and match books carefully to pupils’ needs.”
- “Pupils quickly learn to read fluently.”
- “Pupils love learning at school.”
- “Leaders have created impressive opportunities for pupils’ personal development.”
- “Pupils are taught to take responsibility for their school and do so exceptionally well.”
- “Adults meet the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) well.”
- “The leaders of Reception and the pre-school have created an excellent provision for the children.”
- “The school’s leaders are dedicated to serving pupils’ best interests.”
- “Staff constantly look for ways to make the school even better for pupils.”
- “Governors carefully evaluate the quality of the school’s provision.”
- “All adults place safeguarding as their highest priority.”
- Children’s personal, social and emotional development is outstanding!
- The Early Years provision is outstanding!
We encourage you to take time to absorb the full report of which we are very proud. We hope you can see within the report’s content the continued enhancement of Cranfield Church of England Academy as a happy, nurturing, safe, Christian Academy where pupils are keen to learn and everyone is valued.
Prior to our September 2019 inspection on 11th December 2018 the Academy had a one-day ‘Section 8 Ofsted Inspection’, the objective of which was for the inspector to find out if ‘the school continues to be good’ and ‘safeguarding is effective’.

- “Staff are vigilant in their approach to safeguarding procedures”.
- “Leaders are tenacious in ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of all pupils.”
- “You identify pertinent and highly effective support which helps pupils to make rapid progress.”
- “I observed teaching assistants and parent volunteers making a very positive impact on the progress of groups and individuals.”
- “Your focus on seamless inclusion…enables all pupils to share their experiences as well as have their individual needs met by thoughtful activities delivered to a high standard.”
- “You are very committed to implementing ‘what is right for Cranfield’.”
